Wilfried Kriese was born in 1963 and was trainedas a carpenter. Since 1989 he is a workman at the University of Tübingen. He made a name for himself as writer and publisher for minorities after publishing to date 35 books which deal mainly with minority and social issues. Since 1984 he has been involved in politics for directly affected minorities in the political party “Die Grünen”. After standing candidate for a mandate (once at a regional and twice at a national level) Wilfried Kriese is the first person with a past learning disorder in Germany that applied for such mandates. In view of the fact that there are approximately 1 million persons in Germany living with a learning disorder, this might set us thinking, as it proves how difficult it is to break out of the pre-determined restrictions that are set for minorities.

Schwäbisches Tagblatt (8.8.2003) People in the news

The best-known (and confessed) dyslexic from Rottenburg has recently been allowed to call himself “Dr. h. c.” (doctor honoris causa). The author and publisher Wilfried Kriese, age 40, has been awarded this honorary degree at an international convention in Baden-Baden last week on the behalf of an institute of the Canadian University of Windsor (Ontario). Computer scientist George E. Lasker, the head of the institute, published the English version of Lampsacus, issued five years ago by Kriese and the Tübingen chaos scientist Otto E. Rössler. Among other things, that book discussed the way that the internet can contribute to worldwide communication among minority groups. According to Kriese, he received the title for his “outstanding achievements, exemplary pedagogical leadership and outstanding services to mankind:”

In My Eyes Günter Wallraff
Report, 2004
Preis E-Book 5,99 € Taschenbuch 14,80 €

Günter Wallraff. He was the hero of the 70s and 80s. Using controversial methods he wrote against the powers that be in Germany. In the Industrie Reportagen, in his role as the Turk „Ali“ or as „Hans Esser,“ editor at the „Bild“ newspaper – Günter Wallraff has repeatedly touched a raw nerve of society, his methods have polarized opinions to this day.

This is the way Günter Wallraff is introduced most of the time. It is clear, however, that if many people among the young and old know about the arguably most controversial European writer, they do so just superficially.

For the first time, a book comprehensively presents Günter Wallraff’s literary and journalistic work, thus looking at an unknown side of his. But one can learn about some aspects of Wallraff’s private life, too.

HALF-TIME
To Turn One’s Weaknesses Into One’s Strengths
Autobiography, 2003
Preis E-Book 5,99 € Taschenbuch 12,80 €

Due to his extraordinary walk of life and his resulting writing style, Wilfried Kriese, born in 1963, became a well-known personality.

As a child, he lost his language proficiency, was classified as behaviorally disturbed and is a dyslexic. He spent all his school-years in special schools for mentally challenged children.
After his school-years, Kriese did not follow a secondary or tertiary educational course, but his own. Today he is the author of numerous books as well as an editor.

This biography proves how a person whom experts had given up as being a hopeless case, and who would normally have been confined to sheltered accommodation and work, is nevertheless capable of leading an independent life.

Life behind hotel walls A narrative
Satire, 2001
Preis E-Book 5,99 € Taschenbuch 14,80 €

They live in a small self-contained house which is appropiate for a civil servant of the clerical class and a personal secretary.
Every day in Bruno´s life is just the same. The same way to work, the same working routine, the same leisure activities, and every year the usual holidays in Italy on the Adriatic coast, in the same beach hotel.
He forms his opinions by means of television, radio and newspapers. That´s what responsible citizens are made of.

One day, however, his conservative view of society begins to crumble away: Margot tells him that he has won a free flight for the whole family to Kenya at the state lottery „A PLACE IN THE SUN“. While Bruno had just aimed to become rich and buy himself a social conscience through the lottery ticket, he is forced now to get to know the other side of western life for 2 weeks.

ENCOURAGING LAMPSACUS
The Internet as Chance for
a Multicultural Society of Minorities
Specialized book, 1998
Preis E-Book 5,99 € Taschenbuch 9,80 €

Lampsacus was a historical place in ancient Greece which became famous for its humane asylum politics. Today, Lampsacus is a name on the Internet,
httpp://www.cs.wayne.edu/~kjz/lampsacus/,
but simultaneously a suitable place outside the Internet is sought which is willing to “adopt” Lampsacus.

Lampsacus is the global solution for a planet that depends for its survival on a multicultural symbiosis. The most important achievement of Lampsacus is the unconditional fulfilment of the human right for information. The Internet enables the globalisation of Lampsacus and the Multicultural Society of Minorities.

The actual realization of the today easily implantable possibility with the many jobs that it creates is left to the courage and decision of the readers of this little book. The authors hope that it acts as a jolt into a better future.
